The Bergen fMRI group leader Prof. Kenneth Hugdahl and Prof. Karsten Specht gave an interview for the UiB magazine På Høyden regarding the discovery of the extrinsic mode network (EMN). Please follow the link to read the whole interview: http://pahoyden.no/2015/08/en-hjerneteori-om-alt, for English version see: http://www.uib.no/en/news/90967/universal-theory-brain

Researchers at the Bergen fMRI Group, in collaboration with Marcus E. Raichle and Anish Mitra at Washington University, St. Louis, USA have suggested the existence of a new generalized cortical network, the extrinsic mode network (EMN), as complimentary to the default mode network (DMN) previously discovered by Marcus Raichle and colleagues. The new network is described in a recent article in Frontiers in Human Neuroscience; http://journal.frontiersin.org/article/10.3389/fnhum.2015.00430/abstract, published on-line August 6, 1015

From K. Hugdahl, M.E. Raichle, A. Mitra, K. Specht (2015). On the existence of a generalized non-specific task-dependent network. Frontiers in Human Neuroscience, doi: 10.3389/fnhum.2015.00430

Professor Stefan Koelsch, currently at the Freie Universität Berlin, will join the University of Bergen and the Bergen fMRI Group in the fall of 2015.
For more information see: http://www.uib.no/aktuelt/90030/musikalsk-hjerneforsker-til-uib. Stefan Koelsch is internationally known for his work on music experiences and the brain, in particular studies of brain correlates of music-evoked emotions

The Bergen fMRI Group welcomes Stefan Koelsch to Bergen and looks forward to have him as a member of our research group!
